Cross Party Group on Faith meeting

Religious Buildings....Do they matter?

Norwegian Arts Centre, Cardiff Bay on Wednesday 15 October from 12:15 - 13:15

 

This Cross Party Group does not make a distinction between group members and external guests with places for meetings being allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Minutes:

1. Darren Millar AM welcomed everyone, noting apologies from AMs 

2. The Chair noted that there were no matters arising from the previous meeting.

3. The following individuals were re-elected to their posts, having been nominated and seconded at the meeting:

a. Darren Millar AM – Chair

b. Jim Stewart, Evangelical Alliance Wales - Secretary

4. Well-known BBC broadcaster Huw Edwards was introduced and gave a presentation on 'Religious buildings...do they matter?'

5. Deputy Minister for Heritage, Ken Skates, responded to the presentation. 

6. The discussion on religious buildings was opened to contributions from all present. 

7. It was agreed that the Chair should write formally to the Welsh Government to request that a task and finish group be established to identify Wales' important religious buildings and policy suggestions regarding their protection. 

6. The meeting was closed by Darren Millar AM with details of the next meeting to be circulated via email by Jim Stewart.
